April 30 Marketplace Update - 30/4Feeling a bit hazy this morning - bit of a big night in Liberty City last night...
April 29 Have You Got It Yet?I do, but I'm stuck at work. Ease my pain by telling me about your first experiences in Liberty City... April 28 Release In Your With Ninja Gaiden II On Xbox.comNinja Gaiden II is slicing and dicing onto Xbox 360 on June 6 but it's never too early to start practicing your ninja moves. That's where Xbox.com comes in - if you head to www.Xbox.com/ninjagaiden2 (UK, FR, ES, IT and NL only) you can enter the NGII dojo to hone your skills and take on your friends in combat! The Release Your Wrath minigame lets you unleash ninja attacks on your mates and the coolest this is that as you defeat your foes you can collect a memento of your victory and show it off on a specially created screensaver, desktop wallpaper, social network widget or Facebook application!
It's pretty sweet, so go and take a look. If you want to challenge me my ninja name is AceyBongos - bring it on, but watch out for my Violent Wind attack. I had chilli for lunch. April 26 Marketplace Update - 26/4I've just downloaded the GTAIV Theme, I've re-watched all the GTAIV trailers and I'm sitting here wearing my GTAIV T-shirt. What a loser. Hurry up Tuesday!
And there's stacks of extreme sport videos up everywhere too - you can buy them individually (150 MS Points) or save by buying two volumes of the collected videos (600 MS Points each).
April 25 Lost Odyssey Triple Bonus Pack Now AvailableAs if Lost Odyssey wasn't big enough already... The Triple bonus pack is 200 MS Points and available now!
"Greetings mortals,
New downloadable content is now available to help continue your immortal quest with Kaim and his companions in “Lost Odyssey,” the epic RPG Xbox 360 exclusive. Available on 25th April for only 200 Microsoft Points on Xbox LIVE Marketplace, this DLC includes a new dream sequence, “The Shattered Beyond” and an invaluable “memory lamp,” which allows you to view previously seen dreams. Also, a new ring is introduced to specialize in fighting against magic powered weapons.
New Dream “The Shattered Bond”
When all of the playable characters have joined the player party, visit the bridge (a demolished bridge) in front of Castle of Uhra with this item in possession. Then the event cut-scene to view episode 31 “The Will of an Old Soldier” will be triggered.
Ring “Killer Machine” This is a special ring forged to specialize in fighting against Magic-Powered weapons.
The ring will apply the following three effects:
Valuable “Memory Lamp” This is a key item for Theater Mode that allows users to view Dreams. You can find this in the Upgraded Nautilus towards the bottom of the screen to the end of the corridor. This is an example of how the main hero Kaim experiences flashback from the things he sees or hears in the game." How Are You Distracting Yourself From GTAIV?Given that we have to wait until Tuesday to get our hands on GTAIV, how are you distracting yourself from the intoxicating thought of exploring Liberty City? In this week's This Week on Xbox.com our expert Content Manager Pete Jarventaus lists out the ten things he's doing to keep himself sane, so i thought it would be fun if we all did the same thing. We might learn something from each other!
Check out Pete's ideas first, then take a look at mine, then list yours in the comments!

Good luck everyone, and ROCK ON \m/ April 23 How Desperate For GTAIV Are You? 20 Days Desperate?I personally can't think of anything else at the moment. GTAIV has burrowed into my brain like a little uzi-toting field mouse, and it's nibbling on my synapses in such a ticklish way that I can't concentrate.
BUT - I'm not so desperate for the game that I would camp outside a game shop for twenty days. Yes, twenty. 20. Days. In Sweden, however, this is perfectly normal. Well, maybe not normal, but it is happening. A bunch of hardcore GTA nuts have been queing for the game since April 9, braving the Swedish spring in order to be first in line when the game goes on sale on April 29. They reckon it might even be a world record for queing for a videogame. It's impressive dedication, but haven't you heard of pre-order lads?
Marketplace Update - 23/4Lost Cities, the award-winning card game, is today's XBLA game. it's a bit like a cross between UNO and Catan, and although it looks a bit confusing at first it's actually pretty simple to pick up. Check out details and screens at GamerScore, then download the free demo, then get the full game for 800 MS Points.
Also available today:
1942 is going to be NICE! April 21 Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory And Metal Arms: Glitch In The System On Xbox Originals TodayTwo new additions to Xbox Originals today - as soon as Xbox LIVE comes back online at 6pm UK (7pm CET) you'll be able to download Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory and Metal Arms: Glitch in the System for 1200 MS Points each.
April 20 EDITED: Xbox LIVE Down Tomorrow 10am - 6pm UK TimeJust a quick note to let you know that Xbox LIVE will be down for maintenance tomorrow from 10am to 6pm UK time (11am - 7pm CET). During this time you won't be able to access Xbox LIVE or My Xbox on Xbox.com, and the forums on Xbox.com will be read only. It's maintenance only so there won't be any new features when the server comes back up. Use the time off it to get some of those offline Achievements you've missed...
In other news I'm now fully fixed up again so it'll be normal AceyBongos service this week!
EDIT: Changed the finish time for the maintenance from 4pm UK to 6pm UK. My bad, sorry about that, and thanks to those who pointed out my pitiful maths skills in the comments! April 16 Rocky & Bullwinkle and Battlezone Available on XBLA Now!It's a double XBLA day today! Rocky & Bullwinkle (800 MS Points) is a collection of minigames based on the classic cartoon series, and Battlezone (400 MS Points) is a remake of the old-school Atari tank blaster. Of course, you can always download free demo versions of both to try them oot.
In other news I just read OXM360 UK's review of GTAIV. Needless to say, I am more moist than ever about the whole thing. It really does sound like my dream game. The new issue of OXM360 UK with the review is in shops tomorrow - I won't spoil it by telling you what score it got, but I bet you can guess... April 15 The Rockstar Social Club - And Liberty City Radio! In case you hadn't noticed it's only two weeks until GTA IV launches across the world and brings everything to a complete standstill. BRING IT ON! It's so close I'm getting ridiculously excited about pretty much anything related, so I almost imploded when I saw this stuff on the US Xbox.com site today. First up, you can now check out some of the initial Liberty City radio stations now over at the GTA IV website, including K109 as hosted by DJ Karl Lagerfeld! You can also grab a widget for each of the radio stations and embed them on your website or social network page. Then there's the Rockstar Social Club, which is the Bungie.net-style stat-tracking website that'll let you collate and compare all your GTA IV single and multiplayer statistics. Check it out: "Extend your Liberty City experience at the Rockstar Games Social Club. Track your single and multiplayer accomplishments and finally prove that you’re better than your friends. Challenge yourself in worldwide competitions to win exclusive prizes. Purchase songs and share your favorites by creating playlists from any of Liberty City’s radio stations. Plan your next move and keep track of citywide crime levels with the Liberty City Police Blotter." How cool does that sound? Pre-registration starts for the Rockstar Social Club on Thursday - I know I'll be in there like swimwear. Roll on April 29! The only problem is that it's a Tuesday and I won't be able to stay up all night playing it... Where's Acey?Isn't technology wonderful? One little thing goes wrong and everything else comes tumbling down like a meerkat learning to snowboard. I'm really sorry I haven't been posting much recently but I've been having the mother of all computer problems, and since I can't get into my work laptop I can't get access to all the stuff that usually lets me plan my posts. It's been pretty rubbish (and by that i mean TOTALLY MINCE), but I'm hopeful that it'll be sorted in the next couple of days and I can get back to normal...
Luckily things have been busy around here anyway so I have had stuff to think about - once service resumes I'll hopefully be able to start telling you about it all again! Halo 3 Legendary Map Pack Available NowThe Halo 3 Legendary Map Pack is available now for 800 MS Points - three huge new levels means three hundred more hours of multiplayer goodness.
You should also check out the interview that Ryan Treit did with Frank O'Connor from Bungie about the new maps - it's on the UK Inside Xbox feed now! April 09 Ikaruga On XBLA TodayJust a quick reminder that ultra-hardcore shooter Ikaruga is available now on XBLA for 800 MS Points. It's the kind of game that grabs you by the nostrils, yanks you towards the screen, and punches you repeatedly in the face. It's BRILLIANT. Check out the demo for free, but stick with it - it takes a whole to get used to the black/white mechanics (you can flip your ship between black and white, and you can only be killed by the opposite colour of enemy bullet). April 08 Rock Band Hits UK, France and Germany on May 23May 23. UK, France and Germany. £129.99/169.99 Euro for the full instrument pack, with the game sold seperately at £49.99 / 69.99 Euro, or you can buy the guitars seperately at £59.99 / 79.99 Euro and the drum kit at £69.99 / 89.99 Euro. You might want to start getting your band together now so you can all buy your own instruments... There'll be exclusive songs included in each country's version, and you'll also be able to buy every previously released PDLC song from Xbox LIVE Marketplace from launch day. It's also worth noting that Rock Band will be exclusive to Xbox 360 in these countries until later in the summer, so if you want to rock out Xbox 360 is the only place to do it. Check out Eurogamer's coverage for more info. I'll be getting more info on the Rock Band release soon and hopefully I'll be able to answer some questions about the launch territories. Rock on! |
